Polyurethane Rheology Additive HEUR-540A

HEUR-656A is a liquid water-based thickener with polyurethane components, featuring medium and low shear performance and easy application. It outperforms traditional cellulose-based thickeners (e.g., HEC hydroxyethyl cellulose, MC methyl cellulose, etc.) and acrylic thickeners in leveling property, film gloss and water resistance.

Application Scope

It is widely used in water-based coatings, water-based adhesives, water-based inks, textile coatings, leather finishing and other fields.

Dosage and Application Method

1.Dosage: 0.2-2.0% relative to the total formulation. Prior to addition, conduct tests to determine the optimal dosage according to the system components and required fluidity. It can be diluted with water-based solvents or water for better dispersibility.

2.It can be added either before or after grinding. It is recommended to add a portion in the early stage and the rest in the later stage.

3.Pre-dilution is not required before use for dispersibility. If dilution is needed, water-based solvents can be used.

Notes

1.Associative thickening is affected by temperature: the viscosity is higher at low temperatures and lower at high temperatures. Temperature conditions should be considered when designing the formulation.

2.Re-test shall be conducted when the batch of thickened raw materials is changed to confirm the dosage of the thickener.

3.This product may crystallize at low temperatures, and crystallization does not affect product performance. If crystallization occurs, heat the product to melt the crystals before use.

Storage and Shelf Life

1.Store in the original sealed container;

2.Recommended storage temperature: 6-28℃;

3.Must be used up within 12 months from the date of production;

4.Avoid direct sunlight and contamination by other substances.

Packaging

Available in 50kg, 125kg and IBC ton drum packaging. Customized packaging can be provided according to customer requirements.
